Pregnant Behind Bars Men and women in the United States prison system face an adversity of challenges in many aspects of their lives. One area where incarcerated individuals face a hardship is the access to healthcare they receive while they are imprisoned. Access to screenings, check-ups, medications, and treatment for diseases may be limited. Women are particularly vulnerable to inconsistent healthcare if they are pregnant while in prison. They may not receive all the necessary prenatal or postpartum care. This will have an impact on the mother’s health and the health of the newborn. Implementing complete nursing care for incarcerated pregnant women can ensure a safe and healthy outcome for the newborn and the mother. Shaw, Downe, and Kingdon (2015) and Eliason and Arndt (2004) talk about women who experience bleeding and/or cramps and then they do not receive prompt care. In one case, the woman lost her baby the next day because no one would listen to her maternal instinct. Some women in the prison system decide to keep their child, but in a majority of cases, they give their baby up for adoption or the baby is turned over to DCFS. Due to this, some women begin to separate themselves from the infant before it is even born. This can leave to other feelings like anger and guilt that she is pregnant in prison in the first place. The impending separation causes depression if the woman was looking forward to motherhood. When the mother delivers, she is able to spend only a couple days with the infant. This causes even more depression and feelings of guilt after the infant is taken away. Infant Outcomes in Prison Women entering prison during the first trimester verses the third trimester have different outcome in terms infant birth weight. Women who become incarcerated during their first trimester are likely to have infants born of normal birth weight. This is because prison systems are required to provide healthcare, which would include prenatal care, and three meals a day (Howard, Strobino, Sherman, Crum, 2011). There are some images that come to mind when one thinks of Daoism, such as simplicity, nature, and harmony. When I think of Daoism I think of Winnie the pooh, Ying Yang, and the painting of the 3 sages. These images are the epitome of Daoism, and replicates what Daoism is all about. Ying Yang is a universal symbol of harmony. Ying Yang is also a simplistic design that represents Daoism, and its harmonious and simplistic ideas. According to Lao Zi, the more man interfered with the natural balance produced, the further away from harmony you will be. The more complex you make it the harder it gets. Everything had its own nature already within it, which could not be violated without caus ing difficulties. Although this eternal struggle between Spanish government and ETA seems endless, I will offer two ways that would help to solve this political international problem, but first let’s know a little more about ETA’s origin. ETA was funded based on the PVN (Basque Nationalist Party) socialist ideology, but with different ways to act. Both organizations have the same objective: to liberate Euskal Herria, that is located in the western  Pyrenees  that extends the border between Spain and France  on the  Atlantic  coast (Bowen 163); however, ETA and PVN differ in the ways to reach their objective.While ETA uses the violence as the main â€Å"weapon†, PVN looks forward to gain autonomy from Spain through government presence. Since 1968, when their first terrorist attack happened, ETA has killed more than 800 people (â€Å"Hint†). Moreover, their most important terrorist attack occurred in December 1973, when Luis Carrero Blanco, primer minister successor of Franco, was assassinated in Madrid by four members of ETA (Barros 97). This union is the first step to debilitate ETA. Also, the PP (Spain Popular Party) which politics are totally against Zapatero, observes that starting a peace process will weaken ET A, and it would probably put an end to 40 years of violent conflict. Thus, ETA will have to drop all political conditions and disarm, so there is no doubt of its disintegration as a terrorist organization.However, ETA has never given up even if their members feel that they doesn’t have the support to continue; hence, I’ll offer another solution that has more effectiveness since it is based on similar previous events. In the previous paragraph, the solution mentioned involves a several quantity of steps to finally reach the results desired. However, letting a Basque Country national party enjoy in the next elections to have presence in the national parliament, is a solution that has more impact on ETA.Based on facts that in 2000 a Basque political party, named Aralar, made its way to the Spanish parliament, and it provoke a rupture in ETA’s organization (â€Å"Spain politics†), I’m going to develop my second solution. In the last February, another political party belonging to the Basque Nationalist was founded. This party clearly rejects ETA’s violence, which only objective is to gain presence in the Spanish parliament, and through this way represent the Basque Country. It is a fair point since we know that democracy is the only pacifist way to obtain what the Basque Country wants.
